Real Science sets out to stimulate the interest of high-school-age viewers by demonstrating the practical part science plays in some of the more exciting aspects of daily life.
This tape comprises six 22-minute programs. In one, viewers are taken on some of Europe's most hair-raising roller-coaster rides to gain a greater understanding of engineering and computer-aided design; in another, the action switches between the scene of a bungled robbery, police interview room and forensic science laboratory; a third examines the effects of gravity on submariners and fighter pilots.
Most of the programs are mini-documentaries with commentary and footage to suit. Only the burglary investigation departs from the norm with slightly corny 'dramatic' footage among the real science.
